Last Friday I spent a good 45 minutes trying to work out the meaning of a document sent to me in the course of my “official paid work”. It contained an overload of weasel-words, office speak and unexplained acronyms. It also featured the unhelpful title of “Project (acronym) Communique”. It is not quite in the “In-order-to-qualify–as–a-sentence-this collection-of words-requires-a-verb” league (and yes I have read documents which required that comment as a response), but I couldn’t make head nor tail of it. I think that I may have worked out what it is about, but not what is required, by whom or by when. I am going to give it a few days and see if it is any clearer then. I am reluctant to contact the author in person as I suspect I will be given the same word salad verbally as received via the email. Just another reminder to keep things simple.
